Whitefield Academy is 0-10 against Faith Christian Academy since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Whitefield Academy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Faith Christian Academy Knights at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Whitefield Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to Blue Ridge Christian 73-69.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian Academy came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 68-62 victory over Plaza Heights Christian Academy.
Faith Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Akins, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Akins hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Justus Standlea, who scored 15 points.
Whitefield Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Faith Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Whitefield Academy was dealt a bruising 69-36 defeat at the hands of Faith Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Whitefield Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
