Glacier is a perfect 10-0 against Hellgate since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wolfpack will welcome the Knights at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Glacier has nine straight victories, Hellgate has 23 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Glacier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Sentinel, who was ranked fourth at the time (Glacier was ranked third). The Wolfpack beat the Spartans on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-3.
Ava Grady was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taelor Holt, who went 3-for-4 with three runs. Joslyn Crofts also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Glacier hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sentinel struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Hellgate fell victim to Flathead and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Braves.
Hellgate's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Glacier, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Hellgate's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Glacier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .413. It's a different story for Hellgate, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Glacier's hitters?
Glacier got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Hellgate by a conclusive 17-4 score. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
