The Argos Dragons struggled with assists on Friday (the Bethany Christian Bruins had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Argos fell to Bethany Christian 44-40. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Argos of the 57-51 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Argos still got an impressive performance from Sean Richard, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Richard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Luke Stults was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Bethany Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Schlabach out in front who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Reinhardt, who scored six points along with three steals and three blocks.
Argos has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Bethany Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Argos on the road again on Tuesday and play against North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. North Miami has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21. Bethany Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bremen at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Bremen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday.
