The Marshall Owls pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Hannibal 61-57. Marshall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hannibal apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Owls players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Thompson, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Caviness, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Marshall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Hannibal, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Marshall will be playing in front of their home fans against Hannibal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hannibal is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for they, they will head out on the road to face off against Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Marshall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
