In what's become a running theme this season, Geneva gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Incarnate Word Academy with a sharp 56-35 victory. Winning may never get old, but Geneva sure is getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Geneva was led to victory by Kyra Petty and Maegan Riebel. Petty scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Riebel scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Petty has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Lee, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Geneva pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Incarnate Word Academy, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneva will take on Veritas Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Veritas Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1185th, while Geneva is ranked 254th). As for Incarnate Word Academy, they will be playing at home against John Paul II at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. John Paul II has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
