After flying high against the Bloomington Purple Raiders last Friday, the Champaign Central Maroons came back down to earth. Champaign Central took a hard 63-47 fall against the Titans on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Champaign Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Titans are ranked 70th).
Champaign Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Swanson, who scored 11 points. A.j. Tucker was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Champaign Central has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Glenwood, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Champaign Central will take on the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glenwood, they will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
