Tulia is 0-8 against Childress since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tulia Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Childress Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Tulia is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
The matchup between Tulia and Friona two Fridays ago hardly resembled the 13-7 effort from their previous meeting. Tulia was outmatched by Friona on the road and fell 55-8. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tulia in their matchups with Friona: they've now lost five in a row.
The losing side was boosted by David Molina, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Childress took a serious blow against Canadian on Friday, falling 63-21. While losing is never fun, Childress can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Canadian is ranked 59th).
Despite the defeat, Childress got a solid performance out of Isaiah Jalomo, who picked up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jalomo's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
The losses dropped Tulia to 1-5 and Childress to 3-3.
Tulia took a serious blow against Childress when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 48-15. Can Tulia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
