Naomi Welborn was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ella Hall was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Todd County Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .442. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Russellville only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Muhlenberg County earned a 5-2 win over Russellville on Thursday.
Bella McCarraher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mia Jernigan and Joshlynn Noe did most of the damage at the plate: Jernigan went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Noe got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ella Watkins, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Todd County Central's victory bumped their record up to 16-11-1. As for Muhlenberg County, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Todd County Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Muhlenberg County struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
