After losing to the Godby Cougars the last time they met, the Rickards Raiders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Rickards enjoyed a cozy 55-37 win over Godby on Friday.
It was another big night for Romie Cosby, who scored 15 points. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Tarek Caesor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Godby's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mekhi Butler, who scored 11 points. The contest was Butler's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Staten, who scored eight points.
Rickards' victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Godby, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rickards will take on Chiles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chiles has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 344 points over their last five matches. Godby and Florida State University High School will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Florida State University High School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Godby likes a good challenge.
