The Hillsboro Hiltoppers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-29 loss at the hands of Highland. While losing is never fun, Hillsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Highland is ranked 55th).
Despite the loss, Hillsboro saw an underclassman step up: Amya Greenwood scored 12 points.
Hillsboro has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Hillsboro will head out on the road to challenge Gillespie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gillespie is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Highland, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
