Alaina Nolan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, St. Edward let Sarah Gurley and Kendall Pemberton run wild. Gurley went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Pemberton went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Pemberton has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Dawson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Lions.
Like St. Edward, Wheaton Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Tati Chavez. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Chavez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Wheaton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .564 or higher in three consecutive matches.
The victory got St. Edward back to even at 9-9. As for Wheaton Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Everything went St. Edward's way against Wheaton Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as St. Edward made off with a 12-0 victory. Do the Green Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
