Northridge extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-12 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Logan Grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Knights have suffered since April 25, 2024.
Kaylee Sherieffs put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Sherieffs wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Makaybree Nay, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Logan, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 1st.
Like Northridge, Logan also got a great game from a two-way player: Cambree Cooper. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Cooper was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Leila Pauni was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Miley Allen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will challenge Box Elder at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Logan, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Layton at 3:30 p.m.
