Reed is 9-1 against Carson since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Senators at 9:00 a.m. Reed is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Reed is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bishop Manogue just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Miners, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 13, 2024.
Tiare Kanae made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Carson faced McQueen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Senators came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 10-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Senators considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Madison Blanchard-Salazar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Sofia Morrison and Cali Stagliano did most of the damage at the plate: Morrison went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Stagliano went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Stagliano has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhys Branham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Carson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.
Reed's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 20-4-1. As for Carson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-10-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Reed hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Reed beat Carson 5-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Senators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
