This season hasn't been kind to the Owens Valley Cubs, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They took a serious blow against Immanuel Christian on Thursday, falling 55-26. Owens Valley was down 44-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Owens Valley still got an impressive performance from Drake Martinez, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That was a full 57.7% of Owens Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Glenn, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Immanuel Christian can attribute much of their success to Henry James Guevara, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Guevara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Peter Brennan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Owens Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Immanuel Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Owens Valley will head out on the road to face off against the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Immanuel Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for they, they will be playing at home against Owens Valley at 6:30 p.m.
