Basketball Game Preview: Chisholm Trail Rangers vs. Brennan Bears

Two dominant guards in Kaden Richardson and Kingston Flemings are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chisholm Trail Rangers will be taking part in a tournament against the Brennan Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chisholm Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.

Chisholm Trail is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Aledo just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Bearcats. The contest was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but the Rangers couldn't quite close it out.

Chisholm Trail might have lost, but man, Richardson was a machine: he went 9 for 19 on his way to 24 points. The game was Richardson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jack Skinner was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Chisholm Trail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brennan). They breezed by Marshall to the tune of 108-46 on Friday. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Chisholm Trail better keep an eye on Flemings. He was instrumental in Brennan's win, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 11 boards. Flemings has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Cowgill, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and five assists.

Chisholm Trail's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Brennan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
