The Smyrna Bulldogs were the 65-55 winner over the Wilson Central Wildcats when they last played one another back in November of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Smyrna was the victim of a tough 63-37 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats on Monday. Smyrna's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Smyrna's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Pastrana, who scored six points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalylle Batey-roberts, who scored nine points.
Smyrna has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Wilson Central, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13.
Smyrna will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wilson Central, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Smyrna focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday.
