Baseball Recap: Dalton Has No Trouble Against Riverdale Country

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Collegiate, Dalton was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Riverdale Country Falcons with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jackson Herzog spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Dalton is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Sam Klein and Ryan Feder did most of the damage at the plate: Klein went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Feder went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Klein has posted since back in May of 2024. Miles Gumbs was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Dalton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Riverdale Country, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Dalton will host Trinity at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Dalton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Trinity has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Riverdale Country, they will take on Fieldston at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
