Basketball Recap: Landon Somerville Key Part of Team Effort in Hubs Win

North Hagerstown posted their closest victory since January 17th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Urbana Hawks 64-61. The win continues a trend for the Hubs in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

North Hagerstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Somerville led the charge by shooting 40% from the field on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Somerville is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Darion Weedon, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

North Hagerstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Urbana's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Orellana, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Mason Johnson was another key player, shooting 60% from the field en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

North Hagerstown's record now sits at 16-7. As for Urbana, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 16-7.

North Hagerstown has already played their next matchup, a 54-52 victory against Oakdale on the 4th. As for Urbana, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-33 loss against Frederick on the 4th.
