The Rincon/University Rangers will be taking part in a tournament against the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Rincon/University turned things around against Palo Verde on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Titans.

Thomas Montgomery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Valentino Sandoval was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Victor Moreno also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mica Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Mountain View on Friday as Mica Mountain made off with a 10-2 win. The Thunderbolts not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.
Maddux Rocha looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Mica Mountain got a massive performance out of Raydon Rocha, who scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3. Brady Webster was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.
Mica Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Rincon/University back to even at 3-3. As for Mica Mountain, their record is now 2-4-1.
Rincon/University suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Mica Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Rincon/University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
