The Boise Brave will challenge the Moscow Bears at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Boise is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.
Boise's tournament run continued when they took on Elko on Friday. Boise fell just short of Elko by a score of 10-9.
Kamryn Newbery and Lilly Hopstad did some serious damage despite the final result: Newbery went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Hopstad went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Hopstad launched this season. Another player making a difference was Lucy Hopstad, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Boise lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Moscow lost 14-6 to Meridian on Friday.
Hannah Robertson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaci Kiblen, who scored three runs and stole two bases.
Moscow now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Boise, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Moscow's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Boise has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Moscow, though, as they've been averaging 13.3 hits. Given Boise's sizable advantage in that area, Moscow will need to find a way to close that gap.
Boise came up short against Moscow in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 6-2. Can Boise avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
