After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Westville, Oakwood was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hoopeston/Armstrong 42-14. The Comets haven't had any issues with Hoopeston/Armstrong recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kyler Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 176 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Ty Huchel was another key rusher, rushing for 118 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Oakwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
