Shakopee has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Lakeville North Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Shakopee has not done well against Farmington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Shakopee enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Farmington. That 56-37 margin sets a new team best for Shakopee this season.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Lakeville North had to settle for a 78-75 loss against Providence Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Lakeville North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Providence Academy is ranked first).
Shakopee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Lakeville North, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Shakopee came up short against Lakeville North in their previous matchup back in January, falling 41-30. Can Shakopee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
