The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Robinson Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northwest Cabarrus' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Northwest Cabarrus pushed their score all the way to 55 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Norman Charter. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northwest Cabarrus has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Jordan Gonder, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Gonder is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jake Filipkowski, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Northwest Cabarrus were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Norman Charter only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Robinson entered their tilt with East Rowan with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Robinson simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat East Rowan 77-41 at home. Given Robinson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while East Rowan is ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Londen Roseman, who scored 15 points. The match was Roseman's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Brian Rowe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Northwest Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Robinson, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Northwest Cabarrus suffered a grim 67-43 defeat to Robinson when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
