Two dominant guards in Marcus Browder and Johnny Hudson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hammond Central Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Calumet New Tech Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hammond Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Hammond Central didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Central and fell 55-53. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Gregory Dotson, who went 7-for-11 en route to 15 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cylin Pointer, who posted ten points.
Meanwhile, Calumet New Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Boone Grove.
Hammond Central will have to contain Hudson as he made an impact in Calumet New Tech's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Lawerence, who had eight points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Calumet New Tech was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Calumet New Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 8-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hammond Central has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Calumet New Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hammond Central strolled past Calumet New Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 78-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hammond Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
