Football Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. East Union Lancers

Patterson has gone a perfect 3-0 against East Union recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will host the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Patterson has given up an average of 26.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Patterson lost to Central Catholic on the road by a 35-18 margin. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Patterson might have lost, but man, Dasen Pettis was a machine: he rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, East Union put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 69-14 victory over Sierra. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lancers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 573rd).

East Union's win came from a few key players Patterson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kirk Simoni, who threw for 145 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 50 yards. East Union's leading receiver Jp Abrew was Simoni's top target yet again, picking up 108 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Union was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for East Union, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jackson Fay, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

East Union's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Patterson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Patterson strolled past East Union in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 38-22. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
