Basketball Recap: Reagan Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Chase Hill and Jemitri Wurtz

Reagan was the 63-56 winner over Churchill when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Reagan Rattlers took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Churchill Chargers.

Reagan's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Jemitri Wurtz and Chase Hill. Wurtz went 7 for 8 on his way to 21 points, while Hill went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Wurtz has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christian Kelley, who posted four points.

Reagan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-10 record this season. As for Churchill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-13 record this season.

Reagan will host Clark at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Reagan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Churchill, they will venture away from home to take on Johnson at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Johnson sitting on 12 straight victories and Churchill on three.
