In what's become a running theme this season, the Tri-Valley Vikings gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They put the hurt on Flanagan/Woodland with a sharp 62-41 victory. Given Tri-Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Flanagan/Woodland is ranked 491st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flanagan/Woodland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emma Palaschak, who scored 12 points. Aubry Edens was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Tri-Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Flanagan/Woodland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
Tri-Valley will face off against LeRoy at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Flanagan/Woodland, they will head out on the road to take on Heyworth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Heyworth is on a three-game streak of home losses, Flanagan/Woodland a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
