Abigail Grubbs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Montelongo, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Addison Garcia also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wiregrass Ranch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Springstead 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Bulls sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Juliangelis Matos and Aubrey Zechmann did most of the damage at the plate: Matos went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Zechmann went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Wiregrass Ranch's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Pasco, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pasco has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wiregrass Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
