Basketball Recap: Moapa Valley Piles Up the Points Against Pinecrest Academy Cadence

Moapa Valley entered their tilt with Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars 60-27. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Claire Cox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 19 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Moapa Valley's points. Bekah Jensen was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Moapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aspen Larson, who posted ten points and eight boards. Larson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Hilton, who scored eight points and eight rebounds.

Moapa Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moapa Valley will face off against Rancho at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will be playing at home against Virgin Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
