The Nelson will head out on the road to face off against the Wells Guardians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Nelson sitting on five straight victories and Wells on eight.
Nelson put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season last Thursday. They blew past Gresham, posting a 40-7 win on the road. Given Nelson's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Gresham is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Franklin scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Wells still came out on top. Wells strolled past Franklin with points to spare, taking the game 74-60.
Wyatt Andler and Marselis Griffiths were among the main playmakers for Wells as the former rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. Wells also got a significant boost from Griffin Scott, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 106 yards.
Nelson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points per game. As for Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
