The Perry Pumas will head out on the road to take on the Pinnacle Pioneers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Perry made easy work of Chandler and carried off a 13-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pumas.
Brynlee Brassfield was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Hailey Estrella also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chandler only posted a batting average of .364.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 6-2.
Kodi Crabtree was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Torynn Slaughter was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Crank, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Pinnacle's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, their record now sits at 15-12.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Perry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Pinnacle struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Perry came up short against Pinnacle in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 12-9. Can the Pumas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
