Baseball Recap: Parkway South's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Parkway South dropped their record down to 13-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Parkway South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Andert, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple.

As for Father McGivney Catholic, the victory was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

On Father McGivney Catholic's side, Isaac Wendler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Wendler has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Drew Kleinheider was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mason Holmes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Parkway South will head out on the road to face off against Seckman at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games the Jaguars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will square off against Maryville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.08 runs per game on average), something the Griffins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
