The Avenal Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Tranquillity Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Avenal and five for Tranquillity.
Avenal played against Mendota and lost via forfeit.
Tranquillity fell victim to Coalinga's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 59-0 loss at the hands of the Horned Toads. While losing is never fun, Tranquillity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 954th, while Coalinga is ranked 327th).
Avenal now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Tranquillity, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Avenal against Tranquillity when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 38-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avenal since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
