After five games on the road, Payson is heading back home. They will take on the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Payson struggled with threes on Tuesday (Holbrook had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Payson took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holbrook. Payson has not had much luck with Holbrook recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dominik Stuerzer put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Schinstock, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Pima by a score of 37-30.
Payson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Payson was able to grind out a solid victory over Blue Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 46-36. Does Payson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Blue Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
