The New Summerfield Hornets are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Overton Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on December 12th.
Last Tuesday, New Summerfield had to suffer through a rough 53-15 loss at the hands of Christian Heritage. While losing is never fun, New Summerfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1491st, while Christian Heritage is ranked 647th).
Meanwhile, Overton didn't have too much trouble with West Rusk on the road on Thursday as they won 49-34. The win was just what Overton needed coming off of a 55-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Overton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamiya O'neal, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals. Catherine Delane was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
New Summerfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Overton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.
New Summerfield ended up a good deal behind Overton when the teams last played back in January, losing 38-23. Can New Summerfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
