Basketball Recap: Progreso Comes Up Short

Progreso was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays, falling 66-35. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Ants this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-32 back in December of 2024.

Several Red Ants players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julio Resendez, who posted three points and 15 boards. Resendez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was John Hernandez, who had 11 points.

Progreso's loss dropped their record down to 12-18. As for IDEA Sports Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Progreso will venture away from home to square off against IDEA Robindale at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Progreso is facing IDEA Robindale at the right time seeing as IDEA Robindale is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for IDEA Sports Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lyford comes in on 11 and IDEA Sports Park on five.
