The Miyamura Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Clovis 66-32. Miyamura was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-12.
Kaytoinette Ross and Amora Yazzie certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Ross scored nine points, while Yazzie scored eight points.
Clovis was led to victory by Kailyn Jefferson and Zarai Lewis. Jefferson scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Lewis scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The match was Lewis' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Angelina Armijo, who scored four points along with four steals.
Miyamura bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Clovis, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Miyamura's road trip will continue as they head out to face Taos at 9:30 a.m. on December 21st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Taos is ranked 105th, while Miyamura is ranked 86th). Clovis will be home for the holidays to greet Silver at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday. Silver is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
