Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Southwest's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

While Southwest put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Brito. The Eagles came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Tyler Villamor looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Southwest's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Albert Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Michael Cabrera was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Southwest is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Brito, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Southwest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against Braddock on the 1st. As for Brito, they are taking a road trip to face off against Sunset at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
