It was a good run, but the Brookhaven Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Provine. Brookhaven has not had much luck with Provine recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brookhaven's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylen Haliburton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Haliburton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamarius Malone, who scored 13 points.
Brookhaven struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brookhaven's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for Provine, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookhaven will challenge North Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Pike is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Provine, they will head out on the road to challenge Natchez at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Natchez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Provine is ranked 23rd).
