Baseball Recap: Chaminade Takes a Loss

Chaminade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Duchesne Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on Saturday.

Chaminade got a good showing from Adam Giljum, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Giljum has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit two triples, marking his first of the season.

Chaminade's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Duchesne, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaminade will face off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Duchesne, they will square off against Parkway Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colts will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
