Basketball Game Preview: Howells-Dodge Jaguars vs. Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars will head out to square off against the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Howells-Dodge came up short against Aquinas and fell 48-41. The loss was the Jaguars' first of the season.

Howells-Dodge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenadie Throener, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks, and Jade Bayer, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Bayer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Humphrey-Lindsay put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Plainview 60-18. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 29 point advantage.

Howells-Dodge better keep an eye on Faith Korth. She was instrumental in Humphrey-Lindsay's win, going 8 of 16 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Korth a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Korth, who posted ten points along with eight steals and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Howells-Dodge fell to 2-1. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Howells-Dodge has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Humphrey-Lindsay struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Howells-Dodge was able to grind out a solid win over Humphrey-Lindsay in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 44-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Howells-Dodge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
