Softball Recap: Garland Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Garland never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the North Garland Raiders as Garland made off with an 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won five contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Natalie Arent made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mady Key was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Melody Alarcon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Garland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in nine consecutive games.

Garland's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Garland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Garland will take on rival Sachse at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Garland is set to square off against their familiar foe Wylie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
