The Lake Ridge Academy Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 43-22 defeat at the hands of Harding. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lake Ridge Academy has suffered since December 4, 2023.
Lake Ridge Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Lillian Shmois and Kathryn Krueger. Shmois scored eight points along with 11 rebounds, while Krueger scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Shmois pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Madisen Mcfadden had an outrageously good game for Harding as she scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mcfadden has scored at least a third of Harding's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hunt, who scored six points along with three steals.
Lake Ridge Academy bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.5 points per game. As for Harding, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Lake Ridge Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Medina Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 18th. Medina Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 24.9 points per game this season, so Lake Ridge Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Harding, they will head out on the road to take on Chalker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chalker comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
