The San Tan Charter Roadrunners will head out to face off against the Phoenix Country Day Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. San Tan Charter is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.
On Wednesday, San Tan Charter got the win against Miami by a conclusive 25-1. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Anthony Crupi looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dillon Wildrick was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tommy Crupi, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
San Tan Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Phoenix Country Day). They blew past Tempe Prep 14-3 on Wednesday. The Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024.
Logan Rose was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Kaelen Thompson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Phoenix Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for San Tan Charter, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
San Tan Charter took their victory against Phoenix Country Day when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roadrunners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
