Softball Recap: Liberty Has No Trouble Against Minarets

Liberty won the last time they faced Minarets and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hawks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 13-1 win. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Macie Webster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Leilah Uriarte was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trinity Cervantes, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty and bumps their season record up to 12-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Minarets, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
