B District 5 recap September 24, 2013
Crete was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Gross Catholic. The Cardinals came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Seward fell to York 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chance Stevenson was a bright spot for the Bluejays, as he ran for 60 yards and caught 2 passes for 24 yards in the loss.
Seward's dynamic duo of Keith Wolverton and Stevenson proved to be unstoppable against the Dukes, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jamie Opfer's team's dynamic duo of Wolverton and Stevenson proved tough for York to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Wolverton put up the best numbers in passing as the Bluejays fell to Glen Snodgrass' team. He had a total of 8 completions for 77 yards.
Stevenson was the best receiver in B District 5 this week as Seward fell to the Dukes.
Jessup Workman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Beatrice beat Blair.
Workman was the best running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 151 yards as the Orangemen fell to York. Teammate Reece Gronewold added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Seward's Wolverton and Cale Wagner have proven to be a lethal combination. Wolverton has thrown for 724 yards this season, while Wagner has 6 catches for 165 yards. Workman from Beatrice leads the league in rushing with 717 yards.
Crete made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,196 from 2,994. The advance stemmed from a 18-7 victory over the Cougars last week.
