After each having a week off, the Bishop Manogue Miners and the Reed Raiders will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Manogue will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
While Bishop Manogue's win against Douglas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Miners skirted past the Tigers 48-46. The Miners' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Bishop Manogue's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Mann led the charge by throwing for 277 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 77 yards. That's the most passing yards Mann has posted since back in October of 2024. Nate Simmons was in the mix as well, providing Bishop Manogue with two TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bishop Manogue was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Reed, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They breezed past Galena to the tune of 50-13 last Friday. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.
Reed's win came from a few key players Bishop Manogue will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shaysan Rivero, who rushed for 91 yards and three scores on only seven carries. He is becoming a predictor of Reed's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Bronwyn Rios was another key player, gaining 129 total yards.
One reason for the win was Reed's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Raymond Maveni with two.
Bishop Manogue now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Reed, their record now sits at 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Bishop Manogue has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Reed struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 212.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Bishop Manogue beat Reed 35-28 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rios, who rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Miners still be able to contain Rios? There's only one way to find out.
