Hobbs has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Artesia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hobbs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Hobbs pushed their score all the way to 78, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Cleveland at home by a decisive 92-78 margin. Hobbs has not had much luck with Cleveland recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Hobbs got a solid performance out of Abraham Pe?a, who scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Malakhi David, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Artesia came up short against Roswell on Tuesday and fell 52-42.
Hobbs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Artesia, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
Hobbs strolled past Artesia when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 63-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hobbs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
