Floyd Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Shelby Valley Wildcats at TBD on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Floyd Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 60-50 win over East Ridge on Friday. The victory was just what Floyd Central needed coming off of a 70-36 defeat in their prior contest.
Jace Martin had an outrageously good game as he threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown. Brody Buck did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 66 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Shelby Valley entered their tilt with Knott County Central with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Shelby Valley breezed by Knott County Central at home to the tune of 50-6. Considering Shelby Valley has won six contests by more than 21 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Their wins bumped Floyd Central to 6-5 and Shelby Valley to 8-3.
Floyd Central was dealt a bruising 70-36 defeat at the hands of Shelby Valley when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Floyd Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
