After a string of three wins, the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Mescalero Apache by a score of 47-44. Mesilla Valley Christian School was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mescalero Apache apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Mesilla Valley Christian School saw an underclassman step up: Camden Daves scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Borde, who scored eight points.
Mesilla Valley Christian School's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for Mescalero Apache, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Mesilla Valley Christian School the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Carrizozo at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Carrizozo is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Mescalero Apache will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Capitan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
